What is the difference between an employee and a slave. An employee gives one third to one quarter of their day for wages, not profits. An employee is off the clock,a slave never off the clock. Drug testing is an invasion of privacy. it doesn't belong in a free society period. I am now in my 50's, even with a college degree at my age I can expect to make no more than a third of what I used to. If insurance is available it will cost me a third to half of my wages. I would be happy to work for what I used to and pay taxes rather than live off the dole and buy my groceries with food stamps. I have been knocked off my perch. I lived well, had a house,good benefits. I have my health which I thank god for, but the chance to live a middle class existence is probably gone for me. I do believe in the work requirement. I have worked all my life. I am happy for the people who have held on to their wealth. Technological change and free trade has their winners and losers. 99.9% of people don't have the capability to put themselves in others shoes and that includes me. Capitalism is the goose that lays the golden eggs. The question becomes how do you get back in the club. Politics is politics and the less people that vote is an advantage for the Republican party. As to how this is possible, In our past history we had Iran Contra which had Cocaine being sold for guns to arm the rebels. We had Watergate. I have four sisters and one brother. The most affluent in the family are republicans, the less affluent the Democrats. If you have wealth you want to hold on to it. If you have none you wish to obtain it. As to how this is possible, you can't get blood out of a turnip. You don't work for poor people, you work for rich people. Your view will be dependent on where you are at. I am happy for my sister and her 60 acres in Sullivan. Just keep in mind that not everybody wants to milk the system, I never would have imagined at 40 years of age I would be where I am at today.
